Stretcher transportation is for a rider who is not mobile and needs to be moved on a gurney. If someone cannot transfer into a seat and cannot stay seated for the journey, a wheelchair van is the wrong vehicle and a taxi is not an option at all. The rider travels lying down, secured on the gurney, from the room they are in now to the room they need to be in next.
This is not an ambulance and it is not emergency care. We carry riders who are medically stable and whose trip is planned. If someone is having a medical emergency, call 911.
The common thread is limited mobility rather than any one diagnosis. If you are not sure whether your rider needs a stretcher or a wheelchair, call us and describe the situation. We would rather work it out on the phone than send the wrong vehicle.
A stretcher trip is never just a driver. Every one goes out with an attendant as well, and our attendants are EMTs. They are the ones who move your rider onto the gurney, take them out of the building, and bring them all the way in at the other end rather than stopping at a door.
That second crew member is the main reason a stretcher trip costs more than a wheelchair trip over the same distance. You are paying for two people and a vehicle built to carry a gurney, not for a bigger car.
We can do stairs. A second floor apartment with no working elevator, a front porch with steps, a narrow staircase in an older house: tell us when you b/ok and it is handled. This is worth saying plainly because it is the single most common reason a stretcher booking falls apart on the day with another provider.
We do not turn riders away on weight. If you have been quoted a limit elsewhere, or told a bariatric rider cannot be carried, call us.
If your rider uses oxygen, it travels with them. If they do not have their own, we can provide oxygen if it is needed. Tell us at the time of booking so the crew knows what is coming and can plan the space, and let us know whether it is a cylinder or a concentrator.
Locally we cover Houston, Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland, League City and Galveston. Beyond that we run long distance stretcher trips, so travelling lying down is not a reason to be told no.
We quote your specific trip rather than publish a rate card that would not apply to you. What moves the price is distance, whether it is one way or round trip, the time of day, stairs at either end, and whether the crew waits for you.
Two things are worth knowing before you call. A stretcher trip costs more than a wheelchair trip over the same distance, for the reasons above. And over a long distance a stretcher trip with us costs less than an ambulance doing the same journey, which is what most families are comparing it against.
Give us at least 24 to 72 hours where you can. A stretcher trip needs a specific vehicle and a second crew member, so the further ahead you book, the more of the day is open to you. Our phone is answered around the clock and we take same day requests when a crew is free, so call even if the notice is short.
When you book, tell us the pickup and destination, the appointment or discharge time, whether there are stairs at either end, whether oxygen is travelling, and whether anyone is riding along. That is everything the crew needs.

It is transport for a rider who has to travel lying down on a gurney rather than sitting in a seat. Our crew moves the rider onto the stretcher, secures it in the vehicle, and takes them in at the other end.
If they can be transferred into a seat and stay seated for the drive, a wheelchair vehicle usually works. If they cannot sit up safely for the journey, it is a stretcher. Call us and describe the situation and we will tell you which one to book.
No. We are a non-emergency service carrying riders who are medically stable on planned trips. We do not respond to emergencies. If someone is having a medical emergency, call 911.
A driver and an attendant, on every stretcher trip. It is never a driver on their own.
Our attendants are EMTs. They handle the transfer onto the gurney and stay with your rider through the trip.
Yes. Steps, a porch, a second floor apartment with no lift. Tell us when you book so the crew arrives ready for it.
No. We do not turn riders away on weight.
Yes. The rider can bring their own, and if they do not have their own we can provide oxygen if it is needed. Mention it when you book and tell us whether it is a cylinder or a concentrator.
Yes, and there is no extra charge for it.
We do. Austin, Dallas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Galveston are all trips we run lying down.
Yes, including transfers across state lines.
At least 24 to 72 hours is ideal, because a stretcher trip needs a particular vehicle and a second crew member. We answer the phone 24 hours a day and take same day requests when a crew is available.
We quote your trip rather than publish a price list. It costs more than a wheelchair trip over the same distance because of the vehicle and the second crew member. Over a long distance it costs less than an ambulance. You get a firm quote before the trip.
