Royalty Medical Transportation provides long distance medical transport out of Houston. We handle ambulatory riders, wheelchair users and patients who need to travel lying down on a stretcher. We are a private pay service, so you get a firm quote before the journey and there is no insurance approval to wait on.
Our drivers are CPR and First Aid certified, and a family member is welcome to travel with the patient at no extra charge.
Moving a patient from one hospital to another, whether across the state or across a state line. These are planned, non-emergency transfers where the patient is medically stable and an ambulance is not what the situation calls for. Give us the two facilities and the date and we will quote it.
One of the most common calls we get. An older parent is moving from Houston to a facility or a family home in another city, and needs to travel comfortably with someone who understands that this is not an ordinary road trip.
Texas is large and specialist centers are not evenly distributed. If the treatment you need is a long way from home, tell us where and we will quote getting you there and back.
The journey home after an extended stay, when a car with a family member driving is not enough. A commercial flight is rarely realistic for a patient who cannot sit upright or manage an airport.
If the patient cannot sit upright for the duration, a seat is not an option. Stretcher transport lets a patient travel lying down for the whole journey, which for a long trip is often the difference between a move being possible and not.
A stretcher journey travels with a driver and an attendant, so there is someone with the patient throughout rather than only a person at the wheel. If you are arranging a planned, non-emergency transfer for someone who cannot sit up, call us and we will quote it.
It also costs considerably less than an ambulance. An ambulance is priced for emergency clinical care, which is not what a planned transfer needs. If you have been quoted an ambulance fare for a non-emergency journey, call us before you agree to it.
Stretcher transport does cost more than a wheelchair trip over the same distance, because of the vehicle and the second crew member. If the patient is able to travel seated in their own wheelchair, say so when you call and we will price it that way instead.
