Rides to Medical Appointments in Houston

Ride in Royalty, Arrive on Time. Every Time.

Long Distance Travel

Transportation to doctor appointments and treatment

Missing a medical appointment is rarely about not wanting to go. It is about not having a way to get there. Royalty Medical Transportation provides scheduled rides to medical appointments across Greater Houston, so that getting there stops being the difficult part.

We drive people to appointments seven days a week, around the clock, and we build in time for traffic and parking so you arrive before you are due rather than after. Our driver comes to your door, helps you into the vehicle, and takes you inside to reception rather than leaving you at the entrance.

We are a private pay service covering Houston, Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland, League City and Galveston. Every driver is CPR and First Aid certified, and a family member or caregiver is welcome to ride along at no extra charge.

Appointments we drive people to

Dialysis

Dialysis runs on a fixed schedule two or three times a week and missing a session is not an option. We set up standing recurring trips so the same ride is booked for every session without you calling each time. Because treatment often leaves people weak and unsteady, the driver helps you back into your home at the end, not just to the curb. Riders travelling with us more than two or three times a week receive a discounted rate.

Specialist and follow-up visits

Cardiology, oncology, nephrology, wound care, orthopedics, pain management. These are often the appointments furthest from home and hardest to reach, frequently inside the Texas Medical Center where parking alone can defeat a family member trying to help.

Imaging and diagnostics

MRI, CT, X-ray and ultrasound appointments, including the ones scheduled at inconvenient hours because that was the only slot available.

Physical therapy and rehabilitation

Therapy only works if you attend consistently, and consistency is exactly what a transport problem destroys. Recurring bookings keep the schedule steady.

Infusion and chemotherapy

Long sessions that leave people drained. Call when you are finished and the driver comes back for you, or ask the driver to wait.

Procedures that need someone to take you home

Colonoscopy, endoscopy, cataract surgery, dental sedation and other outpatient procedures usually will not release you unless someone is there to take you home. A rideshare driver cannot help a patient who is groggy or unsteady get from the door to the car and safely inside at the other end. We can.

Routine care that is easy to skip

Primary care, dental, vision, podiatry, hearing. The appointments people quietly stop attending when transport becomes difficult, and the ones that turn into bigger problems later.

Rides for seniors who have stopped driving

Giving up driving is hard, and the part that stings is not the car. It is having to ask. Adult children take time off work, neighbours get called, and eventually people simply stop going.

A regular booked ride puts that back in your own hands. You are not asking a favour, you are not waiting on anyone's schedule, and you are not sitting at a bus stop in August. Residents of senior and assisted living communities ride with us regularly, and family members are welcome to arrange the booking on someone's behalf.

Standing appointments, booked once

If you attend the same appointment every week, you should not have to book it every week. Tell us the schedule and we set it up as a standing recurring trip. The ride is booked, the driver knows the route and your preferences, and riders travelling more than two or three times a week get a discounted rate on those bookings.

What happens on the day

  • Time of booking. You give us the pickup address, the clinic, the appointment time and whether you need a round trip. We confirm the price before anything is booked.
  • Pickup. The driver comes to your door, not the curb, and we allow time for traffic and parking.
  • Arrival. You are taken inside to reception or the clinic door, whichever you prefer.
  • While you are in. The driver can wait for you, at a fee of $45 per hour, or leave and return when you call.
  • Home again. On a round trip the return is included when you are heading home between 6am and 6pm. If you expect to finish later in the evening we usually suggest booking the trip out one way and calling us for the ride home, so you are not tied to a return time you cannot use.

Which service do you need?

We run three levels. If you are not sure, call and describe the situation and we will tell you honestly which one fits.

ServiceRight for you if
AmbulatoryThe rider can walk to the vehicle and sit in a normal seat, perhaps with a cane, walker or a steadying arm.
WheelchairThe rider uses a wheelchair. All types including bariatric, power chairs and scooters.
StretcherThe rider cannot sit upright and needs to travel lying down, with a driver and an attendant.

Important: we are a non-emergency service. If someone is having a medical emergency, call 911.

Booking a ride to your appointment

  • Call 832-844-2012, answered 24 hours a day.
  • Use the form on this page and we will come back to you with a quote.

Around 72 hours ahead is the sweet spot, because every pickup time is still available and you can choose the one that fits your appointment rather than working around what is left. Same day bookings are welcome too, so call regardless.
