Ambulatory transportation is the right service when the rider can walk. Not far, and perhaps not steadily, and perhaps with a cane or a walker or somebody's arm, but they can get from the door to the vehicle on their own feet and sit in an ordinary seat.

Someone whose medication makes them drowsy. An older adult who has given up driving. Someone who simply should not be walking into a clinic alone.
Royalty Medical Transportation provides ambulatory medical transport across Houston, Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland, League City and Galveston, 24 hours a day. We are a private pay service, our drivers are CPR and First Aid certified, and a companion is welcome to ride along at no extra charge.
Ambulatory is right for you if the rider can walk to the vehicle and sit in a normal car seat. It is the most common service we provide and the most affordable of the three.
You need a different service if the rider cannot transfer out of a wheelchair, in which case you want wheelchair transportation, or cannot sit upright at all, in which case you need stretcher transport. If you are not sure, call and describe the situation. We will tell you honestly which one fits.
Colonoscopy, endoscopy, cataract surgery, dental sedation and minor outpatient surgery. Clinics generally will not discharge you unless somebody is there to take you home, and they are right not to. You can walk, but you should not be driving and you should not be alone on a bus.
Dilated pupils make driving unsafe for hours afterward. It is a small thing that catches people out constantly.
Giving up the keys should not mean giving up the appointment. A booked ride means not having to ask an adult child to take another morning off work.
Pain management, certain psychiatric medications, sleep aids and a long list of others. If your prescriber has told you not to drive, that instruction does not come with a ride home attached.

We are a private pay service and you will know the price before the trip is booked. Cost depends on distance, whether it is one way or round trip, the time of day, and whether you would like the driver to wait. Riders travelling with us more than two or three times a week receive a discounted rate on those standing bookings.
Booking about 72 hours ahead gives you the widest choice of pickup times. Same day requests are welcome, so call regardless of how short the notice is.

Call when you are finished and the driver comes back for you. Round trips cover that return leg as long as you are heading home between 6am and 6pm. Prefer the driver to stay put and wait? That is $45 per hour.
